Mechanisms and management of acaricide resistance for Tetranychus urticae in agroecosystems

چکیده

The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, is a constant threat to sustainable production of numerous economically important crops globally. Management T. heavily reliant on the application synthetic acaricides. However, has rapidly developed resistance most acaricides available for its control due very broad host plant range, extremely short lifecycle, high fecundity, arrhenotokous parthenogenesis, and overwintering strategy. Despite recent progress in identifying genetic changes/markers associated with toward some commonly used urticae, there still limited studies that select apply these markers field populations guide pest management strategy design. Temporal spatial characterization acaricide-resistant phenotypes their underlying mechanisms are crucial design implementation successful integrated mite programs. This review highlights current acaricide status field-collected molecular resistance. Our found mutations target sites and/or overexpression metabolic genes confer geographically exclusive populations, while appear be specific at biogeographical areas. Thus, need locally based coordinated efforts understand present endemic populations. Moreover, we discuss prospective template designing an effective program within various agroecosystems.

Adaptation of acaricide stress facilitates Tetranychus urticae expanding against Tetranychus cinnabarinus in China

The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, and the carmine spider mite, Tetranychus cinnabarinus, are invasive and native species in China, respectively. Compared with T. cinnabarinus, T. urticae has expanded into most parts of China and has become the dominant species of spider mite since 1983, when it was first reported in China. However, the mechanism of the demographic conversion has...

Acaricide resistance mechanisms in the two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae and other important Acari: a review.

The two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch is one of the economically most important pests in a wide range of outdoor and protected crops worldwide. Its control has been and still is largely based on the use of insecticides and acaricides. However, due to its short life cycle, abundant progeny and arrhenotokous reproduction, it is able to develop resistance to these compounds very rap...

Phenotypic- and Genotypic-Resistance Detection for Adaptive Resistance Management in Tetranychus urticae Koch

Rapid resistance detection is necessary for the adaptive management of acaricide-resistant populations of Tetranychus urticae. Detection of phenotypic and genotypic resistance was conducted by employing residual contact vial bioassay (RCV) and quantitative sequencing (QS) methods, respectively. RCV was useful for detecting the acaricide resistance levels of T. urticae, particularly for on-site ...

Mechanisms of resistance to organophosphates in Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) from Greece.

We investigated the mechanisms conferring resistance to methyl-parathion (44-fold) and to methomyl (8-fold) in Tetranychus urticae from Greece by studying the effect of synergists on the resistance and the kinetic characteristics of various enzymes in a resistant strain (RLAB) and a susceptible reference strain (SAMB). It is shown that S,S,S-tributyl phosphorotrithioate, a synergist that inhibi...

Molecular mechanisms of Tetranychus urticae chemical adaptation in hop fields

The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch is a major pest that feeds on >1,100 plant species. Many perennial crops including hop (Humulus lupulus) are routinely plagued by T. urticae infestations. Hop is a specialty crop in Pacific Northwest states, where 99% of all U.S. hops are produced. To suppress T. urticae, growers often apply various acaricides. Unfortunately T. urticae has b...
